LEADERSHIP
"When your followers are exhausted and there is no one else to lift them up but you or those of the team with whom you share the load, then the leader must use all of his skills ."
CORE VALUES
The marine corps is a force rich in history and traditions and ingrained with the highest values of Honor, Courage and Commitment. These three core values are the very soul of our institution. They frame the way that Marines live and act. As a result, Marines are men and women of character, widely recognized for their moral excellence, selfless courage, committed principles and sound judgments. Strict adherence to these three simple, yet meaningful core values provides Marines with a common " moral compass" that helps them make the right decisions even in the shifting winds of adversity. For U.S. Marines there are no "shades of gray" when it comes time to Honor, Courage and Commitment,
These values applied to any situation of a person or group of people that manage other personnel will guaranty the operational success of the organization or company.
All of these values Honor, Courage and Commitment become very powerful when reinforced with leadership traits and a good moral sense of right and wrong. Fairness and adherence to the established and legal rules are used as a guide to "right or wrong".
At the office, co-workers think I'm crazy, using terms like guard mail (instead of interoffice correspondence), direct order (instead of directive), and locked on (instead of understood). The task at hand is always a "mission", and no mission is ever too tough.
The word "Sir" involuntarily rolls off my lip when addressing senior management. Some think it's great others don't care for it at all. (Remember the first sergeant's cry? "Don't call me 'Sir', I work for a living!") At any rate, I find myself explaining that it's "ingrained Marine Corps training".
